Today’s post is inspired by two things: the most beautiful description of a white T-shirt from Fantastic Man’s “What Men Wear and Why”:
And by this recent NYT article I read (Why We Love a Movie Star in a White T-Shirt) + a silly collage I made:

I’m just gonna list some of my favorites, link examples, and ask you: where's your favorite white tee from?
My favorite white tees are from:
(Disclaimer: Pricing! You must know that most of my tees have come from resale platforms — and I rarely spend more than €20 either. Ok, other than The Row. The Row one I got for €50 from eBay Deutschland. The only new tees/tops I've ordered were from Pretties and Oscalito. Pretties has the cutest vintage-inspired baby tees that are perfect for layering. And Oscalito (thanks, , for the rec) makes some beautiful merino wool and silk options that feel so luxurious. But I definitely don't buy from them regularly. So while I appreciate a well-made tee, I'm not one to spend major € on them. Resale is where it's at for me.)
LESET, Pretties (aww Rachel), re/done x hanes, Acne, Hanes, Hanes x karla, The Row (lol the price), Hanro, Oscalito (longsleeve tee.) These are the ones I currently own and wear and love. I have spilled coffee on them countless amount of times, I washed them countless amount of times and they are still in top shape! (My BFF, btw.)
My top shape checklist:
No peeling or pilling (I dunno, English is not my first language, urgh I’m tired of learning!!!)
No holes
No discoloration or strange reshaping
Collar remains in great shape
The tight fit remained tight, the boxy fit remained boxy
Excellent quality, it really is!!!!
Tees I do not own but often google:
Everlane, Vince, Madewell, J.Crew, Skims, Cou Cou, Flore Flore, resale Dries Van Noten, Sunspel (especially for guys.) Actually, for guys, they say it’s Sunspel and the pricier ones from Margaret Howell.
Tees I do not like (and am very much in the minority):
COS and Uniqlo U. (I only like Uniqlo’s kids long sleeve/short sleeve, I got one for a 13-year-old and it fits me well!)
A bit from resale :
Europe: I got Hanes stuff here for, like, €4. (Also they always have Toteme, Filippa K, Acne (€18), Ganni tees, and other Scandi things.)
J.Crew Girlfriend tee here for $18.
Everlane tee here for $14.
Dires van Noten for guys here for €76.
The Row in XS here for €190 (try lowballing!) or a scoop neck from TRR for €123.
Margaret Howell here for €55! (It’s a steal!)
Hanro here for €41.
Acne Studios here for €64.
Vince tee here for $20.
Madewell tee here for $23.
Various Sunspel tees to choose from here.
Wardrobe.nyc is amazing quality, I forgot to mention. Here for $120.
Vintage Fruit of the Loom here for €36. But also many cheaper options out there.
Ok, there is just too much!! Also loads on Vinted, TRR, and so on. Happy to help you find the one, but in the meantime, hope this gives you some inspiration.
Now I encourage you to leave a comment!!! Speak out!! Say something!!!! Cause I do wanna know the story of your favorite warm blank tee that you know, love and wear.
P.S. Last week’s hero was cashmere. If you missed it, how could you!?
P.P.S. Next time I’ll send you something from Tbilisi, which is where I am off to next week. I’ll tell them all about how I started comme/neuf and am finding loads of gems on resale. To which they'll probably quip, 'Oh, another vintage Prada? How about you find a husband instead?'
Cannot wait & signing off with the white tee I got there:
Xx

This is so great Anni! I've been trying to find the perfect white t-shirt at resale and your list of brands is super helpful.
