Miu Miu Bags (vintage, resale, good)
...inspired by “Autobiografia di una Borsetta”, a new short film from the women's tales series
Have you seen this little short film, Autobiography of a Bag? I never thought I’d see a bag as the main character of a story — let alone actually feel for it — but here we are.
The white Miu Miu Wander bag takes center stage in this quirky, surprisingly touching tale. Its journey begins in an atelier, where it’s carefully crafted and then gifted to an eldest daughter. Then the bag is stolen by her boyfriend, resold, forgotten on a train, and even witnesses a crime. Eventually, it’s confiscated, left to gather dust in an evidence locker, and finally abandoned on the roadside.
And what charmed me most is that the bag has a voice — an elderly Italian woman. Her voice is warm, soothing and full of personality, as if she had lived through all of the bag’s adventures herself.
I dunno, it all got me thinking about objects and identity, and the emotional weight we attach to the things we own. I know I do — do you?
I don’t have a big wardrobe, but I’m really attached to most of what I own. Like, I get so upset if there’s a hole in my cashmere sweater, or if my jeans have even the tiniest tear, or if I stain a shirt (btw,
wrote a great post on stain removal!). It’s almost ridiculous how much it bothers me. Is that bad? Does it make me superficial?Anyway, while I spend the rest of the day thinking about this, here are 19 vintage Miu Miu bags from resale for you to browse:

Our clothes are a second skin, they perform so many functions - I think it’s a sign of depth, not superficiality, to care deeply about them.
I find that people who don’t care about their clothes/what they wear tend to live more unexamined lives, or lives which revolve around utility and convenience. This in turn usually makes them seem chained to a treadmill of some sort.
Perhaps this is an unkind judgement, but I’m yet to be proven wrong.
The exception is of course my mother, who has little depth but a communist-survival level of appreciation for clothes and shoe care. She’s been personally keeping the local cobbler in business for years.
You handle writing about these topics w/ aplomb! I hadn't watched a MiuMiu film in a minute this was quite good. I was just about to watch Les Choses de la vie - such good understated style.
